Obituary

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Mary Anne Marsman on Monday, March 30, 2020 in her 81st year. Beloved wife of 56 years of Arnold Marsman. Dear mother of Maria Price (Jeff), Kathleen Marsman (Allan Brett), Arnie (Charlene) and Mike (Victoria). Proud Nanna of Jocelyn and Shannon Price, Ella and Dylan Brett, Luke and Carley Marsman, and Shawn and Charlotte Marsman. Frances is predeceased by her parents Dennis and Irene Dalton. She is survived by her four siblings Maurice (Dianne) Dalton, Alice Julian, Brian (Ruth) Dalton and Maria (Gordon) Hardcastle. She is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Frances graduated from Brescia College in 1959. She taught in a one room school house in Riversdale, Ontario for one year. She then taught at high schools in Hamilton, Goderich and London. Frances left her teaching career to raise her family, however, a passion for education inspired her to serve the London community as a Trustee for over thirty years with the London District Catholic School Board, serving as the Chairman in 1996. Frances was a lifetime member of the Catholic Women's League and was an active parishioner at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church. She loved to care for others. Through her church, and as a volunteer with the Cross Cultural Learner Centre, Frances assisted with the settlement of countless newcomers and refugees in the London area. For many years, Frances fought a valiant battle against Parkinson's Disease (PSP). She never complained, even as the illness progressed. She loved to be social with family and friends whenever possible. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Southwestern Ontario. www.parkinsonsociety.ca (519-652-9437). Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of Frances's life will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff of Henley Place-Fanshawe, London, with special thanks to Joanne. Funeral arrangements entrusted to O'Neil Funeral Home, London. Frances & Arnold's wedding in 1963

I am saddened to learn of the loss of your wife, mother, and Nana.I have long admired Frances as being compassionate, gentle, yet firm and persistent in achieving the best outcomes for Catholic Education in her role as a Catholic School Trustee. She was always supportive and encouraging and a joy with whom I loved to work.
Be assured of our prayers. God Bless!
