Frances M. (Ford) McCray, 92, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020, at Bear Mountain of West Springfield. Born and raised in South Hadley, one of seven children of the late Frank E. and Mary (Fogg) Ford. During her career, Frances worked as a housekeeper in local motels, such as the Howard Johnson and the Swiss Chalet in Holyoke. Frances was an avid New England sports fan and could often be found watching one of her favorite teams playing on TV. In addition to her parents, Frances was predeceased by her husband, Harold E. McCray, in June of 2008, and by each of her six siblings, Helen Cherry, Mazie Blanchard, Gertrude Imlay, Peg Ford, Frank Ford, and John "Jack" Ford. She is survived by her two sons Leslise McCray and his wife, Gayle, of Springfield, and Bruce McCray, of Florida; by her three grandchildren, Allyson Armstrong (Buddy), Michael McCray (Courtney), and Pamela McCray (Jon); eight great-grandchildren, Alannah, Nolan, Javin, Reegan, Cullen, Finn, Avery, and Ella, as well as her five sisters-in-law, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Frances' family would like to acknowledge her nieces Betty Methot and Diane Mylinski, who always brightened her day each time they visited her, as well as the staff at Bear Mountain Nursing Home for the compassionate care they showed Frances throughout the last couple years she spent with them. A graveside service for Frances will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020, in West Street Cemetery in Granby, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Frances may be made to Bear Mountain of West Springfield - Activities Dept., 42 Prospect Ave., West Springfield, MA 01089.
