Frances “Daisy” Schreiner was born June 19, 1915, the daughter of John and Maria (Grussendorf) Ulrich in Klossner, Minnesota. She attended a little country school near Klossner and finished further education with the Class of 1939 at the School of Agriculture, University of Minnesota, Saint Paul, MN. While at the University, she enjoyed being on a swimming team. On October 14, 1941, Daisy was united in marriage with Victor Schreiner Sr. at the Catholic Church in New Ulm. The couple made their home on 3 different farms near Lafayette and Klossner. They moved to a farm near Hydes Lake in 1960, and in 1976 retired in Young America. Daisy worked at Tonka Toys for many years. When they lived in Lafayette, she was active in the Homemakers group; and in Norwood, attended Ascension Catholic Church. Daisy loved to decorate. She painted old things and used her artistic talents making them over. She wrote some poems as well as inspirational writings. She loved flowers and had a green thumb. All her plants were always flourishing. She loved antiques and had a collection of dolls. She loved her family and truly enjoyed when people would come to visit. Daisy made delicious homemade bread and her potato salad was out of this world. Daisy and her husband were well known by the family for their delicious popcorn balls. She loved to play cards, especially 500 bid. She loved to listen to old time music and gospel music; and she was a particularly gifted pianist being able to play by ear. She enjoyed watching polka dances on television and Lawrence Welk.
On Wednesday, October 15, 2008 Daisy Schreiner entered her eternal rest at the age of 93 years, 3 months and 26 days at the Elim Home in Watertown. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Victor, son Michael and daughter Marlene.
