STEIG, FRANCES, age 78 passed away January 4, 2018. She was born in Baltimore MD on March 21, 1939. Frances married her husband James on June 5, 1960. Frances, or Frankie as she was more commonly known, was a gifted early childhood educator who created and ran programs at the Miami Youth Museum and JCC. Countless parents and children lovingly remember her for her passion to enrich kids' lives, as well as for her boundless energy. When it came to children, Frances was a "Magic Lady", receiving a Presidential Points of Light Award for her work at tent city after Hurricane Andrew. Frances is survived by her husband James, children Kenny Steig, Karen Steig Wiener, Larry Wiener and four grandchildren she was madly in love with; Jacob, Emelia, Samantha and Zach. A memorial service will be held at Lakeside Memorial Park at 10301 NW 25th Street, Miami. It will take place Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 11:30am. Shiva will follow at the Steig home at 7170 SW 118 St in Pinecrest.

Frankie was my mentor as a pre-school teacher at the Alper JCC in Miami. Both of my boys were so lucky to be in her class when each were 3 years old. I will miss her but I just keep laughing as all my memories come flooding back. I know your memories will be just as beautiful.
