May 5, 1920 – May 4, 2017 (Age 96)
Waynesville, NC – Frances F. Taylor, age 96, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017, just hours shy of her 97th birthday, at Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center. A native of Liberty, NC and a resident of Asheboro, NC in Randolph County; she was the daughter of the late Shelley Calvin and Ora Brower Frazier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl C. Taylor who died in 2000; a brother, Shelley Brower Frazier, who died in 1922; another brother Truett Frazier (Beverly), who died in 1987. Frances was an elementary school teacher with the Baltimore City Schools and the Asheboro City Schools, a reading teacher for adults, and the first woman professor with Randolph Technical Institute. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Asheboro where she served as a UM Youth Fellowship leader, a member and the president of the UM Women, and a Sunday school teacher for all ages. She enjoyed swimming, flower gardening, knitting, and painting. She is survived by a son, Earl F. Taylor (Martha) of Beaverdam, VA; another son, Peter J. Taylor (Suzanne) of Waynesville, NC; four grandchildren, Matthew Taylor (Tori), Rebecca Pflugradt (Cori), Laura Taylor, and Karen Shane (CoreyPine), and two great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at First United Methodist Church of Asheboro, NC. Immediately following at 11:00 a.m. will be a memorial service with the Rev. Dr. Donald Haynes officiating. Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Waynesville is managing the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 224 Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203.
