Dr. Francis E. Cangemi

Every year I come here to write a little something....every 3 months when I walk in the office, I see the picture hanging on the wall. It is you with the office staff. You would have loved the new office. How many times we'd chit chat about it. You saved me. More than once and I will forever be grateful for that. I hope you're resting in eternal peace. May your family always feel your love. I miss you Doc. Thank you.

I think of you always. I think how you would've loved the new office and how we talked about it all the time. I still remember seeing your face every three months and knowing that you were always there. Thank you for saving me in so many ways. You were so much more than My doctor. You were my savior.

How is it almost 6 years? I last saw your beautiful blue eyes august 2017 when you were there for my cataract surgery. You said ‘you’re going to be fine’. Those were your last words to me. Every time I walk in Clara Maass I say a prayer to you. To say you’re missed is an understatement. Rest easy Doc I know you’re watching over all of us. Your patients. And especially your family.

I started out as a patient at age 9 when you did my first surgery. And in 2006 our paths crossed again when I needed another surgery. You were more than just a surgeon to me. You were my savior. You saved my sight. I would see you every three months religiously. Sometimes more often when I´d need to. In August 2017 you were there when I had to have my cataract surgery. I think about Dr Cangemi often. He was more than just my eye dr. He was my savior. We have along history. 34 years he was my doctor. And the last time I saw him was a month before he passed. He was in the OR w me when I had my cataract surgery with Dr Landolfi. The last words he told me were ‘everything is going to be fine’. God I miss him. Dr, Cangemi was my eye doctor for about 10 years and he was the best MD that I have ever seen, he was so professional, loyal, and nice, I miss him even though I just found out he passed today. I am so sorry and he will be well, well missed, my deepest sympathy!,

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Cangemi's passing.
He was my Professor when I was a resident at Newark Eye and Ear. He inspired me to pursue a career in Retina.
