Francis Celentano passed away on November 20, 2016 in Seattle, Washington. The obituary was featured in The Seattle Times on January 8, 2017.

Francis Celentano was one of the first art teachers I had at the University of Washington. At the time I was not an art major, but took a basic design course in order to see what course instruction was like and get a distribution credit. His methods were very clear, and as it turned out illuminated very basic issues every visual artist must deal with in their work.
