Friend of 'The Far Side'
You always knew when Francis Jude Feely was around by his distinctive laugh, a deep and loud guffaw. An accountant at Marsh & McLennan, Mr. Feely was a huge fan of "The Far Side," and would bring cartoons applicable to members of the family at gatherings. "Every year he knew one present he was getting from me, the `Far Side' calendar," said his mother, Patricia Feely. Mr. Feely also had a talent for remembering jokes and recounting them perfectly. "Such a repertoire!" she said.

Mr. Feely, 42, grew up in Flatbush, Brooklyn, where he began dating his future wife, Lori, at 16. They both went to St. Francis College, married and eventually moved to Middletown, N.Y. He made friends with a small band of commuters on Metro-North, and they had dinner once a month or so, said his father, Francis Joseph Feely. Frank and Lori Feely separated in January, but remained amicable.

"He wasn't a saint by any means," his mother said, but he was a funny, loyal friend, and was devoted to his girls, Jennifer, 19; Lauren, 16; Stephanie, 11; and Caitlin, 7.

Not sure what to say?

I grew up with Lori on Marlborough road .I had such a crush on Frank and used to see him at Holy Innocents Church. I became a nurse and moved to City Island. I still listen to your name when they do the reading of the names. You will never be forgotten. Madelon Lloyd, RN

Remembering Francis on the 20th anniversary of 9/11...

I grew up with Frank in Brooklyn both attending Holy Innocents Grammer School grades 1-8 Class of 73. After moving to Florida in 75, I lost touch with many of my Flatbush friends. Frank always had a big smile on his face and yes, that laugh was unforgettable. My heart dropped when I heard the sad news shortly after 9-11. I think of you often and sure god has a special place for you in heaven. Rest in peace buddy. Never Forget

RIP...

14 years later and I still miss your crazy laugh. You would be proud of your Mets right now!

Francis so sorry you had to go so young. i know you mother Pat. she miss you so much along as rest of you family. Still can't believe its 14 years ago this happened. my prayers goes out to you family. always.

I never knew you Francis, but I got to know your brother after your death. It is hard to believe it has been 14 years since this happened. I pray your family receives comfort today as they recall precious memories of you of this day.

I can't say if it was my love for the name Francis, The Beatles, or God just pushing me into your names direction, but I was immediately drawn to your name on the 9/11 memorial yesterday. I'm so glad tob have been able to learn more about the man behind the name. You seemed like such a loving and fun person. May your soul be at peace, as well as your loved ones. God bless.
