Not sure what to say?

Francis retired the year before I started working at UNL. I got to know Francis because he was a regular every week at coffee and he would always ask how teaching was going. One day, he and Herman Goers even came to my genetics class to 'catch up' on learning, but I think it was mostly for fun. I always enjoyed my visits with Francis.

I knew Francis through the Maxwell Arboretum and was always very fond of him. I planted his Bur-Gambel Oak there 30 years ago. Francis was such a wonderful, kind, and generous man. And I was just think of him a few days ago. My thoughts are with you all at this time. Emily

I knew Francis through the Republican City connection with my father and aunt. He was a positive presence at related gatherings, easy to talk with and always interested in other people. His academic accomplishments also inspired me at discouraging moments in my pursuit of advanced degrees.

An amazing man, full of compassion and caring and blessed with an abundance of patience. Heaven is surely rejoicing!

Kate and family. I did not know your father well, but I remember he was sweet and had a twinkle in his eyes. I know you were very close to him and will miss him dearly. I remember hearing many Francis stories over the years. May those memories bring you comfort and a few laughs. Carol

Kate and family. I am so sorry to learn of your remarkable mother's passing. She was a gem! Annette
