Mr. Francis Earl Hoff, 87, of Frederick, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born March 2, 1922 in Carroll County, he was the son of the late J. Earl and Lonie R. Lambert Hoff. He was the husband of Judy Warner Ramsburg Hoff, his wife of 15 years. Mr. Hoff was a 1939 graduate of New Windsor High School. He farmed at Marston, near New Windsor, raising minks and hogs, and retired in 1987. He was a member of Edgewood Church of the Brethren until 1996 when he transferred to the Frederick Church of the Brethren. He was an avid sportsman and duck pin bowler, having bowled professionally in Baltimore. In addition to his wife he is survived by a stepdaughter, Nancy O’Brien and husband Brian of Frederick; a stepson, Bruce Ramsburg Sr. and wife Linda of Cheverly, a sister, Olive H. Miller of Westminster; 5 step grandchildren, Patricia Ramsburg, Kathleen Adkins, Bruce Ramsburg Jr., Justin Ausherman and Kari Ausherman; 5 step great grandchildren; nieces, Karen Young and Alice Moore and nephews, Keith Carlisle, Sam and Dave Lease. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Lease; brother, James H. Hoff and a step grandson, Christopher W. Ausherman. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, at Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave., with Rev. Dr. Paul Mundey, his pastor, officiating. Private interment will be in Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood, with Rev. Sandi Rogers, associate pastor of Frederick Church of the Brethren, officiating. There will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Frederick Church of the Brethren or the Bydanho Sunday School Class, 201 Fairview Ave., Frederick, MD 21701.
