Francis Patrick Hurley had a great love animals. He would put the cat in the back of his trike and in the pram. He liked to feed the lambs that had lost their mothers. One day he came home from with 2 Guinea Pigs to care for, somehow they disappeared suddenly. He would climb in the boxthorn hedge looking for stray cats, come out all scratched. He had no fear when riding his 2 wheel bike, could be risky at time. He went to Alton School and Patea High School.
