Francis Luk Obituary

LUK--Francis, 85, September 30th, died peacefully at this home in Manhattan. Beloved husband of Patricia. Loving father of Mimi, Sophia and Theresa. Adored grandfather of Angela and Robert, Jacqueline and Joshua, Stephanie, Elizabeth and Olivia. Cherished greatgrandfather of Ella. Devoted father-in-law to Eddie and Michael. Much loved brother-inlaw to Jenny and Ken, Eddie, Harry and their respective children and grandchildren. Francis was deeply loved and respected by his family and his friends worldwide. Founder and Chairman of Pacific Delight Tours for 37 years, Francis has been heralded as the pioneer in travel to Asia. He was one of the first U.S. tour operators to enter China, long before it became popular, and successfully opened the doors for hundreds of thousands of North Americans to visit and share in the cultural history, extraordinary beauty and historical significance of his homeland. Francis loved to spend time with his family, friends, employees and colleagues both at home and abroad. He had a passion for travel, was a silver medalist ballroom dancer and loved hosting family gatherings. We will miss him dearly. The wake will be held at Frank E. Campbell's Funeral Chapel located on 1076 Madison Avenue on Tuesday, October 2nd from 58pm. The funeral mass will be held at Saint Ignatius Loyola Church, Park Avenue and 84th Street, New York at 9:30, Wednesday, October 3rd. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Francis Luk's memory be made to The Visiting Nurse Service of New York Hospice Care, 1250 Broadway, 7th Floor, New York, New York 10001.
