Francis was born on July 12, 1929 and passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019. Pat graduated from the University of Notre Dame and earned a Master's degree from the College of the Holy Cross, and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Pennsylvania State University. His funeral will be held, Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 8:30 AM from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville, with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Mark Church, 9 Garden Ct., Cranston. Graveside burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Friday, September 13, 2019 from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Pat's memory may be directed to the Dr. Francis P. Mackay Memorial Fund, Providence College, Office of Institutional Advancement, 1 Cunningham Square, Providence, RI.
Pat was a wonderfully kind and thoughtful man who was one of the first to greet me when I arrived at Providence College sixteen years ago. His life enriched many, many lives. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.
