MARTIN, Francis L. "Lester" - Of Flint, age 83, died Thursday, August 21, 2003 at Willowbrook Manor. Funeral service will be held at 1PM Monday, August 25, 2003 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #822. Those desiring may make contributions to the Make-A- Wish Foundation. Visitation 2-8PM Saturday and 12Noon-8PM Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 7PM Sunday conducted by the Swartz Creek Lodge No. 458 F.&A.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Martin was born in Flint, Michigan on January 13, 1920, the son of Fred and Mary Martin and was a resident of the Flint area all of his life. He married Irene Oskey on March 1, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Swartz Creek Lodge No. 458 F.&A.M. and Central United Methodist Church. Mr. Martin was employed by Bill Carr Sign for 25 years, retiring in 1973. Surviving are his wife, Irene; 4 children, Gary and wife Cheryl of Seattle, WA, Carolyn and husband John Williams of Davison, MI, Fred and wife Beth of Seattle, WA, Keith and wife Carolyn of Temperance, MI; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Martin of Flint; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death his daughter, Patricia Seymour, in 1973; granddaughter, Ashley Martin, in 1999; 3 sisters and a brother.
