I am a former pediatric patient of Dr. Mastrota, one of 7 kids. He kindly took care of our entire family in 7 corners. I was a knuckle head then, and he knew how to take care of us knuckle headed kids. The family pediatrician is always remembered for being there in times of need, duress and disaster. I became a physician
in part because of the influence he had on me. He is always remembered as our family physician and holds a special place in our hearts. He is always remembered, and his surviving family should know that, and be proud of his living legacy.

The Children's National Medical Center Alumni Association notes with sorrow the passing of the distinguished Dr. Francis Mastrota.

Frank was a resident at Children's from 1951 to 1953, and was Chief Pediatric Resident his second year. He was a role model to younger residents and an inspiration to his patients and colleagues.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Bobbie, Michael, Nick and the grandchildren.

I was saddend to hear of the passing of our family pediatrician. I grew up in Arlington, one of 7 children, and Dr. Mastrota was our doctor. We made numerous pilgrimages to see him, and he kept our family healthy. He was a dear gentleman and physician, and his patients will forever remember him and be indebted to his compassionate care. Let it be known that his legacy continues to reside in his many patients who are grateful for all that he did for us.
