Francis P. Millett, 83, loved his family and solving mechanical issues

NEW LONDON — Francis P. Millett, 83, of New London, died peacefully surrounded by family on November 8, 2023.

He was one of five children born to Walter and Priscilla (Wade) Millett of South Portland, ME.

As a young boy, he worked with his father in the construction business. He held special memories of the years the family lived on a farm, all his brothers and sister helping with the chores.

Upon finishing at Westbrook High School, Francis and his brother, Walter, enlisted in the Army. After his discharge, he moved to Rockland County, NY. For 32 years, he worked for the County Highway Department in the position of road foreman. Soon afterwards, he moved back to his beloved Maine, where he settled in the town of Wells. Though he knew after 11 years, he would miss his house and neighbors, he moved to Kittery Estates Retirement Community in 2016. All, however, was not lost. It was then that he met Florence, the love of his life, soon to be his wife. She and Francis were married in a small white church in Wilmot, NH, making New London their home.

They were members of St. Andrew’s Episcopal church in New London.

Francis is predeceased by his daughter, Sherry Moulton. He is survived by his wife Florence; His step-children, John Wiltshire, and Anne Anderson and treasured others: Sarah Foley, Robert Anderson, Brooke Anderson, and nieces and nephews.
