Not sure what to say?

As someone who covered the Bruins in the 1980s for the Worcester Evening Gazette, I got to know Fran a little bit and I always admired his courtesy, his kindness and his genuine feeling for others. He never played the part of the big shot at the big paper; he was friendly and helpful to everyone he dealt with on the beat. As Kevin Dupont wrote in the Globe, he was a "true gentleman" in every sense of that term.

Greg: As I mentioned to you many times at the Bruins games, your grandfather was an inspiration to me. When I began covering the Bruins in 1975, he was always helpful, friendly, and an interesting man to know. I only wish I could have seen him more in his later years. I hope that he knew how much respect and admiration I had for him, and how much I've always remembered his help and encouragement. I miss seeing you at the Garden, and hope to see you soon.

Men like Fran Rosa come along only once in a lifetime and I enjoyed his friendship. God rest his soul and comfort his family.

Tom, I was very saddened to hear about your Dad. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Fran & Kathleen: We were sorry to read of your dad's passing. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time. We pray that you can keep your dad's memory alive with all the happy times you shared with him.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Fran. He was one of my teachers at the Globe when I was starting out in 1953 and was one of the most honorable men I have ever known, a credit to his family, the Globe and Harvard. My most sincere condolences to his family who can rest assured that Francis was one of the superior men of his time. I am fortunate to have known him.
