He was a man deeply committed to Africa, and he was also equally committed to the success of the Corporate Council on Africa, to which his company belonged and made key contributions to in its initial and crucial years. CCA is grateful to his support and interest. Our sympathies to his family and friends.

As someone who in Texas interacted with Francis only tangentially, I still held him in high regard. He was a gentleman of the first order, soft spoken and polite. His loss is a great one for the sugar world for which he contributed so greatly in his lifetime. We shall all miss hi, but remember him fondly as we continue to utilize the fruits of his creation,
