What a great loss of such a remarkable man. --A. Spence Pennington, Capt, USAF

What a wonderful man. Indeed many people across Africa and the world have been impacted by his determination and commitment to the industry. We lost a great one. My deepest sypathies to all the family. Best Steve Cashin

I met Mr. Schaffer through Debra Blacher. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

As someone who in Texas interacted with Francis only tangentially, I still held him in high regard. He was a gentleman of the first order, soft spoken and polite. His loss is a great one for the sugar world for which he contributed so greatly in his lifetime. We shall all miss hi, but remember him fondly as we continue to utilize the fruits of his creation,
