ANSONIA: Francis G. Sullivan Sr., age 72, entered into eternal rest on September 6, 2017, at Yale-New Haven Hospital, with his loving and devoted family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Margaret "Midge" Beccary Sullivan.
Frank was born in New Haven on December 31, 1944, son of the late Francis J. and Catherine Cordett Sullivan. A lifelong resident of the Ansonia community, he was employed as a manager at Stop & Shop Supermarket for fifty years until his retirement. Frank was a fifty-year member of Eagle Hose Volunteer Fire Co. in Ansonia, a coach for the Ansonia Little League, Ansonia High School Class of 1962 class reunion committee member, a member of the Piccolo's Athletic Assoc. and the C & L AM Social Club, and an Ansonia election poll worker. He also enjoyed the theatre and music, was an avid golfer and bowler and was a fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and UConn women's basketball.
In addition to his wife Midge, he leaves to cherish his memory, a loving son, Francis G. Sullivan Jr. of Milford, a loving daughter, Deborah Martel and her husband Gary of Haverhill, MA, brothers, William Sullivan of Beach Island, SC and Joseph Sullivan and his wife Shirley of Tucson, AZ, sisters, Mary Geloso of Seymour and Corrine Gilbert and her husband Lyman of Ansonia, cherished grandchildren, Allison McGill-Sullivan (Nicolas Reyes), Keith Benway, Griffin Martel, Hannah Sullivan and Connor Martel, great-grandsons, Milo and Malcolm Reyes, brother-in-law, Albert Baldino of Milford, several cousins, twenty-seven nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy Jesulaitis, Catherine DeFelice and Jeanne Brualdi and a sister-in-law, Beverly Baldino.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday afternoon, September 10, 2017, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Monday, his funeral will commence at 9:45 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at the Church of the Assumption, 61 North Cliff Street in Ansonia. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frank's name may be made to the Ansonia Animal Shelter, 2 Elm Street, Ansonia, CT 06401 or through the funeral home.
