Not sure what to say?

I planted a tree for each: Dad (Duke), Mom (Tim), Nanny (Eleanor), Grandpa (Francis) about 13 years ago. They were all "volunteer" Douglas Fir trees on our property which we transplanted and placed above our orchard on the edge of the property line. Each one was about 2 ft. high when we planted them. They're all over 20 ft.+ now and thriving - just as these beloved towering family-members did with their compassion, humor and love of life and family did- while they graced this earth. I...

Thank you Duke for giving so many of us our first jobs in the crazy business of advertising. Your enthusiasm toward life and business inspired us all.

You are remembered. Your legacy lives on.

Dear Caroline,
Perry and I are saddened to learn of Duke's death. He and you were so very kind to Maggie when she was your neighbor and again when she and the children moved to different homes in Portland.
Fondly, Peg Bendicksen

Duke was just a super person. (I can't believe it was 43 years ago, this month, that he hired me at Gerber Advertising Agency.)
He was great to work for/with and I considered him my friend thoughout all of these years.
Can't say enough about him and his wonderful family. We will miss him but will enjoy the great memories and stories.

Duke was a true "world class citizen" - probably the only one I everknew.

I met Duke and Tim through their son, Ken who was my Irvington Grade School and Grant High buddy. The family always made me feel welcome on our many trips to Neskowin. They were also very supportive when both of my parents passed in the mid-70's. I live right around the corner from Duke on 21st. I saw him out in the yard often, he always had a smile and a good word.
My thoughts are with the family at this time.

"Mr. Wieden" to me and my sisters, Martha and Emily, was magical. He made nickels and quarters appear from behind our ears. He was fun and always smiling and never acted like a "grownup" (stuffy and condescending). I'll bet he and my parents, Bob and Rosemary Woltring, are haunting the Neskowin Golf Course. What a special person he was to many.

My dad, Charles H. Devlin, was a partner with Duke at Gerber Advertising. Duke became Gerber's president when Dad moved to Chairman of the Board. I got to know both Duke and Tim through my parents. Loved them both.

Please give Dottie my best. Haven't seen her in years.

To the family of Duke Wieden,
We grieve at your loss, but we all should be celebrating Duke's full life. Duke and Tim were great friends and Duke was a personal and professional friend for many years. A great ad executive, a contributor to his profession and the community and just a remarkable man. I am sure he is smiling down on all of us, just as he always smiled when he was with us.
