In the Garden, at the Stove
Dina Schott could set her watch by her husband's daily routine. Every morning, Frank Schott was up at 5:20 a.m., on the train to his job in Manhattan at 6:09 a.m., and opening the front door again of their home in Massapequa Park, N.Y., at 7:00 p.m.

Then, after working for 10 hours as the assistant vice president for technology at Marsh & McLennan, Mr. Schott began his first chore of the evening.

"He would come home, take off his work clothes, put on a pair of shorts ‹ not even tie his sneakers ‹ and he was out there picking his vegetables," Mrs. Schott said. "I always knew where to find him. The man never rested."

While his wife bathed their three children and put them to bed, Mr. Schott, 39, prepared dinner. Some nights it was Indian food; other nights he made a Spanish entree or a Chinese dish. "I got used to it very quickly," Mrs. Schott said. "What woman wouldn't?"

On weekends, Mr. Schott jogged, rode his bicycle and spent time with his children ‹ sometimes taking them into the office with him if he worked on Saturdays because they loved to ride the trains.

"If he had survived what happened and knew of the hate that I have for what these people did, he'd say, 'Ah, don't be so hard on them,' " Mrs. Schott said. "He would always say, 'You can't judge a whole group of people for the actions of a couple of bad apples.' I know that's what he would say."

Not sure what to say?

My daughter told me today that a Schott had died in 911 my maided name was Schott please let his wife & family know Im thinking about them & hope life is getting better.

I didn't realize until today that Frank passed on 9/11. We were neighbors many years ago. I will pray for "Frankie" and his family.

The flag of honor was placed in the front window of my E. Longmeadow, MA home and has not left since. I sat outside reading down the list, only to find my worst fear. Someone bearing my last name was on it. I was unfortunate to experience this day with every other American, and i felt fortunate to have not lost anyone to it. As soon as I read the name my heart sank. I have no clue if the Schott family in Massapqua is related closely or just through a long family line generations ago, but to...

To Dina, Erica, Rob and Jonny,
Our thoughts of remembrance go out to the Schott Family on this day. Dina- you have done a wonderful job raising your family. It is a joy to have Erica in our lives. May God Bless you all today and forever.

I think of you often, Frank. I was older than you, but we lived on the same floor at URI for awhile. I always thought you were so handsome! We both ended up in NY, but as often happens, we lost touch over the years. I was devastated to learn you were the Trade Center on 9/11, but was happy to hear you married and had a beautiful family, a beautiful life. I am so sorry for your loss, Dina.

Remembering Frank, our good college friend, on this 10th anniversary of his death. Thinking of you, Dina, Erica, Robert and Jonathan. Frank was a witty, kind man, and we were very fortunate to have known him. He always said how he loved working in the "Big Apple", and was thankful that he didn't have to work in what he referred to as the "Big Prune" (Providence)! Our thoughts are with you. Hi Dina

Hope all is well with you and your family. Frank Schott was a good and decent man and a dedicated friend. We first met on a ski trip probably around 1983. We had lots of good times. I remember your wedding like it was yesterday. It was my privilege to have known him and hopefully, learned a thing or two from him during the time we spent together. I think of you often and wish you all the best.

Dina, Erica, Robert, Jonathan and Janet - I pray that you and your families are doing well. It is always so difficult to lose someone we love especially in such a senseless way.

Frank and Janet lived up the street from me when we were all dragged to RI by our father's jobs. Frank and I had several classes together, and Janet played field hockey with me. I still remember the canary yellow paint in the bedroom of their house ...

Janet I know keeps in touch with my...

Dear Dina,
It was great seeing you and catching up, don't forget our rescheduled dinner. Saw this on facebook and wanted to add how great a father we all thought Frank was and how much we laughed when you would call him from work on Saturday at lunch and find out he took the kids to the beach. Then the questions would start, did you bring towels, sunscreen, juice boxes etc, etc, etc. All we could think was that most men wouldn't leave the house. They would watch baseball or football...
