Frank Aplan loved Australia and enjoyed his visit down-under. Australian academic researchers loved Frank. When visiting my lab at the University of melbourne he mentioned some country & western music he had heard on the flight to ustrali. My students visited the local record shops until they found the recording. When presented by them to Frank he lit up!!
I will miss him

A wonderful man, I will miss him. He had a major contribution to the field and did so with a sparkle in his eye along with a natural curiosity. Such a gentleman, such a scholar.

Please accept our deepest sympathies on the passing of Frank. Michael and I knew him from his many years at Penn State.
