Frank J. Bendl Jr., 93, of Bath passed away peacefully Monday, May 22, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Irene (Horvath) Bendl and they celebrated 70 years of marriage on January 25th. Born October 24, 1923 in Nazareth, he was the son of the late Frank and Theresia (Didovits) Pendl. Frank was a welder at the former Penn Dixie Cement Company in Nazareth for many years. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during WW II. Frank served in Normandy Northern France Rhineland Ardennes Central Europe and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of Holy Family Church, Nazareth. Frank was a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 4282 Nazareth. Survivors: his wife, Irene; daughter, Barbara Bendl; grandsons, Peter Reilly and Michael Reilly; great-granddaughter, Olivia Reilly; brothers, Walter and his wife Theresa, Alfred, William and Frederick and wife Joan; sisters, Helen, wife of Richard Boris and Theresa Keeler. Frank was predeceased by his sisters, Hilda Bendl and Anna Temmel. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 26th at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 410 W. Center St., Nazareth. Family and friends may call Friday 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Burial with military honors will follow in the parish cemetery.
