I knew Frank in Berkeley in the late
1950's. He was direct and engaging,
a wonderful blend of curiosity,
humor, intellect, eclectic knowledge
and opinion. The last time I saw
him was in the early '70s. His
friend Peter Dahlstrand was asking him
why he had bought an almond orchard.
Frank answered, " 'Ahlmonds'?,
they call them 'ammands'".
