Not sure what to say?

To Holly Blumenthal: I'm so sorry to learn of your father's death. You may not remember me, but I was your viola teacher a long time ago. I remember you, partly because I enjoyed teaching you so much, and partly because your grandfather, Dr. Hans David, was one of my professors at the University of Michigan. I knew him, because I was in grad school, studying musicology. I'm grateful to have had that opportunity! And I trust that your father's memory will always be a blessing.

Some of my earliest happy memories are of the beautiful trains that Frank shared with me when I came to visit in Michigan as a small boy, and it was an emotional moment to come back to in 2025. Frank was generous and always centered others around him, and I'm grateful for the time we spent together and that he was alive to meet my wife Ell in the last year of his life here.

Uncle Frank could make anything interesting. If I went for a walk with him in Ann Arbor it seemed as if every building we passed had a story. Although the best was the time he took me through the "Rolling Sculpture Car Show". Frank although already in his 90s was like a kid enjoying all the antique, classic, concept, and exotic cars on display on the closed off city streets downtown.
