BOURSAW, Frank - Of Flushing, age 80, died Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at his son's residence. Funeral service will be held at 1PM Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Thurman Jones officiating. Entombment at Crestwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Kidney Foundation. Visitation 2-4 and 6-8PM Sunday and Monday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted by Morningstar Lodge No. 556, F.&A.M. 7PM Monday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Boursaw was born in Cooks, Michigan on March 15, 1923,the son of Wilford and Fern Boursaw and was a resident of the Flint area and Flushing since 1950. He married Maggie Watson on August 12, 1980. He was very musically inclined and that led him to becoming a country music D.J. in the Flint area for 17 years with his show "Country Hoe Down" from WMRP and Ernest Tubb 'Midnite Jamboree' from WSM Radio, where he interviewed Loretta Lynn, Jack Greene, Jim Reeves, Hank Snow and Ernest Tubb. He met country stars and had a dinner with them in his honor. It was a time he would never forget. On May 10, 1963, Frank was invited to Nashville, Tennessee where he was a Friday and Saturday night guest and named as "Mr. DJ USA" and appeared at the Grand Ole Opry with Grant Turner. He was inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame on September 9, 1994 in Saginaw. He was Past Master and a member of Morningstar Lodge No. 556 F.&A.M., the Bay City Consistory and UAW Local 599. Mr. Boursaw was employed by General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1980. Surviving are 3 children, Frank and wife Kim of Flushing, Cindy and husband Jerry Modin of Goble, Oregon, Jean Harris of St. Helen, Michigan; step-son, Carl and wife MaryAnne Mancour of Grand Blanc; step-daughter, Madline and husband Roger Lask of Bay City; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 brothers, Shirley Boursaw of Pendleton, Oregon, Lloyd Boursaw of Rainier, Oregon, William Boursaw of Sweet Home, Oregon, John Boursaw of Ocean Beach, Washington, Theodore Boursaw and Danny Boursaw, both of Rainier, Oregon; 4 sisters, Sally Weller of Ocean Beach, Washington, Bernice Jamieson of Rainier, Oregon, Beverly Bruseau of Sweet Home, Oregon and Lindy Stanhope of Longview, Washington; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; two wives, Ruth and Maggie; brothers, Jim and Ray and son-in-law, Charles Harris.
