Frank "Sam" Brumbaugh, 83, of Pen Argyl, PA, passed away Friday, November 4th. Sam was born in Allentown, PA, on September 9, 1933, a son of the late Dr. E.R. Brumbaugh and Adrienne (McGonnell) Brumbaugh. He was the husband of Martha A. (Albert) Brumbaugh. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past July 15th. Sam was co-owner and President of Bangor Cork Co., Inc., until his retirement. Prior to that, he was employed in sales at Abbott Laboratories and Johnson & Johnson. He was a 1951 graduate of Pen Argyl High School and a 1954 graduate of Juniata College, where he received a Bachelors of Science degree. Sam served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Family came first with Sam and he will be best remembered for his devotion and commitment to Juniata College. He served for many years as a Trustee and then Trustee Emeritus. He, along with his wife, established the Brumbaugh Fitness Center for the benefit of students, faculty and the Huntingdon, PA community. He was recognized as a Lifetime Benefactor to his college. He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church in Pen Argyl, PA. Sam was a former Mayor of Pen Argyl Borough, a former member and past President of the Pen Argyl Area School Board, where he served for 12 years, a member and past President of the former Pen Argyl Exchange Club and a member of the Pen Argyl Masonic Lodge #594 F & A.M. In addition to his wife, Martha, Sam is survived by five sons, one daughter and 12 grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Sons, Sam Brumbaugh, Jr., husband of Wendy, of Perkasie, PA; Stephen Brumbaugh, of Silver Springs, MD; David Brumbaugh, husband of Shelley, of Broken Arrow, OK; Michael Brumbaugh and Alice Zander, of Philadelphia, PA; Scott Brumbaugh, husband of Christine, of Pen Argyl, PA; daughter, Mary Glaser, wife of Rich, of Westport, CT, two former daughters- in- law, Patricia Brumbaugh and Beth Cunningham, and 12 grandchildren Eliza, Emma, Sam, Matthew, Catherine, Beniah, Thomas, Timothy, Abigail, Hannah, Michael and Daniel. Sam was preceded in death by his sister Adrienne Kelly. Services are private at the convenience of family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, Pen Argyl, PA. We met briefly at St. Luke's when I was visiting my friend Ken. My condolences to you and your family on the loss of your father. May God comfort you.
