William J. Burke & Sons / Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes Obituary

Saratoga Springs – Frank Joseph Carcaterra passed away on September 5, 2018.  He was born in Yonkers, NY on October 9, 1953 where he was raised by his parents the late Peter and Winifred (Farnan) Carcaterra.  Frank was the youngest of four children and attended Lincoln High School.

After high school, he moved to Potsdam, NY.  There, along with his lifelong friend, Joe DiMatteo, he opened the popular bar and music venue, Django’s.

In Potsdam, he met and married Ann O’Connor. They had one daughter, Maggie. In the late 80’s the family moved to Saratoga Springs, NY, where he lived and worked as a bartender until his passing.

Frank was avid fan of racing, and every racetrack goer made visiting “Frank’s bar” their first stop when they got to Saratoga. He would buy their first drink and wish them a hardy and sincere “Welcome to Saratoga”. Through the years he could be found at The Parting Glass, The Wishing Well and Sperry’s.

A true lover of music and a talented musician, Frank played drums and sang with several bands throughout his life; The Racquette River Rounders, The Rolling Clones, Johnny and the Triumphs and The Off Track Band.

Frank is survived by his daughter Margaret “Maggie” of Portland, ME; sister Winnie (Anthony) Frank of Texas; brother Peter of Clifton Park; along with his nephews Peter, Larry, Steven, Doug, Anthony, Michael, and niece Debbie.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Jean (Larry) Kunze.

There will be a Celebration of His Life at The Parting Glass, September 16, 2018 from 3:00-6:00pm.

Online remembrances may be made at www.burkefuneralhome.com.

Not sure what to say?

Frank (Beans) was my cousin.
We hung together all the time
We lived a few blocks away growing up.
Football
Basketball
We did it all.
RIP my friend

We are saddened to learn of Frank's passing, he was great guy! I will miss the horse racing stories and handicapping strategies that we talked about over the many years. Rest easy my friend.

My wife and I were saddened to hear of Frank's declining health during our traditional visit over Labor Day weekend. Upon meeting years ago he seemed a one man Chamber of Commerce. Each year, as soon as we finished our first day at the track, the priority became finding the current location of Frank's bar. It never felt like we had arrived until we joined the rotating gallery of characters at Frank's bar. I feel blessed to have known Frank and hope he is greeted at his next stop with the same...

I remember frank when he played with John and the band. He will be missed. Sorry for your loss and may God bless him and his family and friends. Rest in peace

Frank will be missed by all those who have known him.A true gentleman, a knowledgeable sports fan and a genuinely good person.

Dear Family and Friends of Frank,

Hello. I just now learned of Frank's passing. In my years in Potsdam, Frank was a big part of my life. I had a great respect of him holding D'Jango's together as such a wonderful place to go and for his talent holding bands together as a drummer. The Clones playing Teenage Nervous Breakdown even faster than the original (and just as well) is still fresh in my mind even though that was 1982. D'Jango's played a major part in my life. Frank...

Frank was an amazing man, a gracious friend, talented musician, lover of life and consummate host. I am happy to have known him and sad to see he has parted these shores for the divine ones...sending love to his family and all his many friends. "Good night and joy be with you all."
