Ambassador Frank Crigler

Moments ago I learned of Frank's passing having lost track of his whereabouts since his tremendously helpful evacuation from Bukavu, Zaire in 1967. Without his assistance, myself and another contingent of 60-75 missionaries from Eastern Kivu Province, would no doubt not have survived the mercenary onslaught of that city. Frank was a fine and devoted Foreign Service colleague and my successor as ambassador to Somalia. I am distressed to learn of his death, and would like to express my deepest condolences to his wife and family.
