Read MoreJulia: I am so sorry for your loss. Frank was a terrific human being. I met Frank in 1962 when I went to work at Raleigh Savings & Loan. My wife, Carolyn, and I moved to Keats Place in late 1986 and I remember Frank coming to our home in November or December with a plant to welcome us to the neighborhood. I note (today in the NYT), with sadness the loss of Frank, a contemporary and fellow graduate of UNC. Julia, I shall be thinking of you and your family, reflecting on many past joint activities with You and my other Carolina friends. RIP

I was N&O entertainment editor (as Anne Twiggs) when Sam Ragan was with N&O, before NC poet laureate Sam became publisher and editor of Southern Pines Pilot, subsequently published by Frank Daniels. I've always had great respect for Frank, and occasionally saw him at Sunday service at Lebanon Chapel in Airlie Gardens. A fine family.
