My condolences on the loss of my old friend Bud Farah. I grew up with Bud on 63rd Avenue in southeast Portland. I lived across the street from Bud with my parents Ed and Thelma Odbert. As kids I remember sitting out on the front porch at my house drawing pictures. And I realized fairly quickly that Bud was a much better artist than I was. I want to say "thank you" for being a part of my life. You were my father's best friend and studio-mate for 45 years. You were a gentle, quiet man, and I guess you had to be because Carl was the talker! When I would visit, I was always greeted with a smile and you would show me your most recent drawings. And when I was little, I used to rummage in your garbage can for treasures to bring home. Your talent was unmeasurable. Dad used to express to me that you were the most...

I was saddened to read that Frank Farah's long life has come to an end. Though I never knew him well enough to call him "Bud," I felt lucky to know him as well as I did. Too late I have learned that he taught at the Museium Art School; I must have just missed meeting him then, having taken a job there myself in the '70s.
