Frank Garretson passed away in San Diego, California. The obituary was featured in San Diego Union-Tribune on January 29, 2006, and The Seattle Times on February 5, 2006.
I only met General Garretson a few times because of my friendship with his daughter. I had the chance to speak with him at length at his daughter's wedding. He struck me as the model of the gentleman-warrior. He was gracious, modest but with an obvious spine of steel. I wish I could have known him better.

We were privileged to live next door to Frank for the past 8 years. Frank was the most wonderful and generous neighbor who always had time to chat and provide good advice on every subject. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences to the family. I never had the pleasure of meeting the General but I grew up with his grandson Aaron. Aaron told me many great stories about him in junior high and highschool. America has lost a great hero.
