I had no idea your father died. I found this obit when I googled his name. He was a great person and teacher. I came to study color in 1978 and was humbled by his person and knowledge. He was influential in my focus on color. It was a honor knowing this amazing teacher.

I feel so privileged to have known, and studied under, Mr. Goodnow. I admired his artwork ever since I was an art-loving child. He was a kind and inspiring teacher...someone I had dreamed of studying with. He was a friend of my parents, and I will always be grateful that he attended my Dad's funeral. It meant a great deal to all of my family.

Dear Jeff & Valerie--I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. Our parents had known each other since we were all children, and I have admired your father -- as an artist and as a kind, thoughtful man -- for as long as I can remember. I was fortunate enough to take an SU painting course from him in the mid-1980s, after years of hoping for the experience. Of course, my sense of color improved because of your father's class. My last two memories of your father: watching him walking...

As a contemporary of Frank's son Jeff and next-door neighbor I was a frequent visitor, and I remember Frank's quick wit (dry as it was) and that twinkle in his eye when he lit his pipe. He will be missed.
