Frank A Gotch

I have just learned the sad news of Frank's death. I served a fellowship under him almost 50 years ago. That opportunity was perhaps the most fortunate thing that has happened to me in my life. I am deeply indebted for his friendship, leadership, and all he taught me. My sincere condolences to his family and to all who knew and loved him.

I am so sad to hear of Frank's passing! I considered him a friend, mentor, customer and always making me laugh! I will miss his smile and chuckle!! Will always remember his file folder filled office at Davies!! So sorry for your lost

I worked with Dr. Gotch as a young RN graduate in the 60s. I have never forgotten him. Just days before I read this obituary, I thought of him and reflected on the early days of dialysis at San Francisco General Hospital. He was an outstanding teacher; he modeled true professionalism along with his personal regard for his patients and staff. Many values that I learned from him are still with me today. It was an honor to have known and worked with Dr. Frank Gotch.

My mom, Pat, was your dad's patient until he retired. In the 1980's, he diagnosed her with glomerulonephritis with an 80% chance of complete renal failure within 5 years. Mostly because of him, she is still alive and doing ok today.

She often talks about how great he was, first because he cared, and also because he took a "whole-body" view towards her health (even examining her eyes during appts). He always cautioned her about what to do and...

Frank Gotch--one of the most pleasant, bright persons I have ever met. He was always cheerful, thoughtful. He could disagree with someone or something without being irritating or inducing rancor. I have not seen him for several years but feel a loss with his leaving us.

Apart from his highly original mind which revolutionised understanding of the dialysis procedure over many years he contributed to many related areas of science.He was very modest about his many accomplishments.
