Heffelfinger, Frank Peavey Jr. "Pete" Passed away at his home in the Dominican Republic Jan. 9th. He was the son of Frank Peavey Heffelfinger and Elizabeth Bradley Heffelfinger of Orono, MN. He graduated from Blake School in Hopkins, MN and from Yale University in New Haven, CT. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Anne Wellings Heffelfinger of La Romana, Dominican Republic, by his three daughters, Elizabeth Heffelfinger of Ojai, CA, Katherine Heffelfinger of Mpls., MN and Shanly Heffelfinger Weber of Boulder, CO; by his one living sister, the Rev. Rosalie Heffelfinger Hall of Mpls.; and by his many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Pete led a full, unusual and very interesting life. With his love of travel, adventure and precious stones, he and his wife spent months at a time away from their home in the Dominican Republic traveling in Southeast Asia, Africa and other parts of the world that held mystery for them. Funeral services will follow at a future date at their farm in Chavon Arriba, Dominican Republic. A favorite Haitian priest will officiate. For all those who knew and loved Pete, he was a wonderful character who enhanced and enriched their lives. May he rest in peace. I didn't learn of Pete's passing until a few years later. He was a great person and was well liked by everyone he met.
When he was in the New York area, he would call me to meet him to discuss our mutual interest in gemstones and life in general; one time he brought along his daughter Shanly.
When we were both there, we would meet for breakfast at the Continental Hotel in Tucson, Arizona. He was an expert in the Leonard Temko Rule of business and would apply it on me at that time. We...

Pete was full of humour and could always be out smarted him, he will be dearly missed.

The biggest prank on Pete was at Henry Royers when those guys spoke until 2 am and Pete walk into the closet.
