Not sure what to say?

IT IS ONE OF LIFE'S LESSONS THAT TEACHES US THAT WE USUALLY DON'T APPRICIATE WHAT WE HAD UNTIL IT IS GONE. TO YOU FRANK SR. I SAY THANK YOU FOR THE LESSONS YOU TAUGHT ME
WHICH WERE LEARNED AND ARE STILL PRACTICED TO THIS DAY. THE GOOD LORD NOW HAS ANOTHER TRUELY GREAT MUSICIAN TO PLAY IN HEAVEN'S BAND, YOUR TALENT AND MENTORSHIP WILL BE MISSED.

KIM E. BIRKETT
BAND MANAGER/DANCE BAND
CLASS OF 1973

We have lost a great musician and teacher. I never knew Frank Sr. personally, because I was not involved in the band, but I remember the influence he had and how great our band was at that time. I did attend UNA with his son, Frank Jr. and if they are anything alike, I know he was a warm, caring person and will be truly missed. Band directors like Frank Sr. can no longer be found. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends. Our prays and thoughts are with them during this time of...

a treasure whose dedication, discipline, and love for music touched the lives of thousands in North Alabama............

Dedication to Frank H. Kendeigh, Sr.

Why We Teach Music

Not because we expect you to major in music
Not because we expect you to play or sing all your life
Not so you can relax
Not so you can have fun

But.........

so you will be human
so you will recognize beauty
so you will be sensitive
so you will be closer to an infinite beyond this world
so you will have more love, more compassion,...

Mr. Kendeigh taught me one hell of a lot during our time together. We always had the best band in the state! And we had the trophies to back it up! What a great guy and long time friend! Only a few of us knew his bark was much worse than his bite. My favorite memories are the Vienna Austria band trip of 1972 and playing with the Rebelaires with Mr. Kendeigh! I was invited to play with the Rebel Band as a guest soloist while I was a student at Jax State. What an honor it was to be conducted...

I remember being almost terrified of Mr. Kendeigh when I first showed up for summer practice when I started as a freshman at Butler High School. As time went on, it became absolutely clear that Mr. Kendeigh was a dedicated and caring teacher.

Requiescat In Pace

Many hearts were heavy at the news of Frank Kendeigh, Sr. passing away. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family--his wife, Frank Jr., Geoff, and Lori. Frank Sr. was "the" impact on my life. He demanded the best effort we could muster and asked for 10% more. We cursed the man, we admired the man, we loved the man. He influenced me into the career I chose--a band director. I strive to be the shadow of a band director he was and influence my students the way he did me. I too have known the...

May God Bless and Keep You in your lost. Your lost will be shared by all who knew him. I am a fellow Band Director who met Mr. Kendeigh in the early 70's.

Mr. Kendeigh had a very positive influence on me and many others who had the privilege to learn music from him. My total enjoyment of music today is almost entirely due to what I learned from him. He taught me to demand nothing but the best from myself every day, and I use that lesson every day. Thank you, Mr. Kendeigh, your contributions to us all will always be remembered.
