Frank R. Kuzan, 93, of Sycamore, Ill., died Thursday Dec. 18, 2008, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb.
Born Feb. 16, 1915, in West Frankfort, he was the son of Adam and Anna (Witunskis) Kuzan. Frank married Florence M. McCabe on May 31, 1943, in the St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb.
Frank was a tool-design engineer for General Electric in DeKalb for 30 years, retiring Jan. 1, 1983. Frank also had several patents for General Electric. He had also worked for the Wurlitzer Piano Factory in DeKalb.
Frank and Florence have lived in the Sycamore community for the past five years, moving from DeKalb. He was a member of Christ the Teacher Catholic Church in DeKalb and DeKalb Elks Lodge 765, a Boy Scouts Cub master, and a former member of the DeKalb Moose, Eagles and Lions. Frank graduated from Harper Junior High School in Chicago, Maple Park High School Class of 1933, and DeKalb State Teachers College. He enjoyed gardening and video taping.
Survivors include his wife, Florence, of Sycamore; daughter, Linda L. Metzke of Concord, Vt.; sons, Frank B. (Sherry) Kuzan of Renton, Wash., and John D. (Gail) Kuzan of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Michelle (Ed) Setterberg, Frank D. Metzke, Mark A. Metzke and Tim J. Kuzan; great-granddaughter, Paige Setterberg; nephew, Richard (Penne) McCabe of DeKalb; and nieces, Marlene (David) Luciani and Billie Jean (Don) Hartmann, both of Delavan, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by son-in-law, Frank M. Metzke.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Christ the Teacher Catholic Church in DeKalb, with Father Godwin Asuquo and Father Steve Knox co-officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in DeKalb. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.

I am so sorry for your loss. Frank was such a fun & nice man. Frank and Florence along with my Uncle Johnny & Aunt Marj were the ones to get my Mom, Marian McCabe to her 60th surprise birthday party, 20 yrs ago! My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
