Not sure what to say?

GOCKY 10/14/09 Funeral Remembrance by Charles C. R. Brown, grandson

My grandfather had the greatest sayings:

If I asked him how he was doing he’d tell me, “Fine as Frogs Hair”

If I asked him what he had been up to he’d tell me, “oh about 5’8’’

Whenever I told him goodbye he would say to me, “see you in the funny papers”

Whenever I hung up the phone with him he would say, “10-4.”

My Grandfather had a delightful sense...

I only had the pleasure of meeting Frank a couple of times, but I have had the wonderful pleasure and good fortune of knowing amazing Nan and her sisters for so many years and know what Frank meant to each of you and your families. We are thinking of you during this difficult time but know you celebrated Frank yesterday in Richmond - wish we didn't live so far away or we would have joined you. All our love, Tim & Ned

Laura, Nan and Anna my mother's cutiest next door neighbors. She certainly enjoyed seeing you grow up , loved being your parent's friend. Nancy's death was the first time I had ever seen her deeply moved by the loss of a good friend. But she never lost touch with Frank and always enjoyed hearing from him. The old neighborhood has surely changed and now with Mother gone, I hardly get up that way. You all had one of the best places to grow up in. I'll never forget your father's war stories...

This man was one of the funniest jokesters and storytellers I ever knew. His joke about brushing his teeth with Preparation H had me in tears. My parents always loved sitting on the porch at the river with Frank and trying to one-up each other with wild and hilarious tales that went on and on. My sincere sympathy to Laura, Anna and Nan, and to Carol. I know you will miss him, but where he is now, he's in terrific company.
Love

I am deeply saddened to hear of Frank's passing. I used to love to sit on the front porch and listen to Frank tell the greatest stories about him and my father back in the "buggy days". All of us at Gloucester Banks will sorely miss "DOC".

I am so sorry to hear of your fathers passing.I knew Frank from waiting on him in Polands Super Market. For 17 years I had the joy of knowing him,an all his friends from Richmond. Know that the the Lord will take care of him now with his journey home to him.May God Bless you an your Family. Nellie Hilker Deltaville an formely Gloucester

We will miss Frank and his very handsome smile. Much love and sympathy to Carol and the Leake family.
