San Fernando Mission Cemeteries and Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary Obituary

Frank A. Marano, 98, died peacefully with family surrounding him on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. He was born on September 8, 1918 in Newark, New Jersey and was raised in a big Catholic family. A Navy Veteran, he served as a dental oral surgeon and doctor on the USS Tripoli Aircraft Carrier during World War II.

Frank practiced Dentistry over a 40 year period at Fox Studios and later in Private Practice in Beverly Hills, California. He was also on staff at both the V.A. and St. John’s Hospital, where he volunteered dental services to disadvantaged children.

After marrying his beautiful bride, Marilynn Browne in 1951, together they raised a family of seven children, eventually settling in Woodland Hills, California. Besides being a Renaissance man, Frank was an exceptionally intelligent, practical, generous and loving husband, father and friend.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, five siblings, his daughter - Joyce and his wife - Marilynn. He is survived by one brother and six of his children. Those left behind will deeply miss him until they meet again.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations made to the “National Veterans Foundation” nvf.org/veterans-donations/. Thank you.

Daddy boy, thank you so much for the wonderful life you provided for your family. You were the most amazing father, and we were so lucky to have you for so many years. You showed your love for us in all that you did. Being a dentist you had to make sure we all had beautiful teeth, of course that included sending us all to the orthodontist to make sure we had perfectly straight teeth when we smiled. For me that was very important, when I was little, the boys in school nicknamed me buck-toothed...

To the dear Marano family, our prayers and thoughts are with you as you farewell your beloved Frank. Love Frances and Joe Gurto xx
