Growing up, Uncle Frank always had time to talk to me about what I was reading or studying, and later, writing. He was the sort of person who would have made for a great history professor: extremely knowledgable and accomplished, yet always accessible and almost naturally open to new ideas and perspectives. He was a true scholar, gentle spirit and a gentleman the likes of which we don't see much anymore.

Our prayers go out to you Rich, and family. Frank was a wonderful guy with a great sense of humor! He is probably having one of many arguments with Custer right now! May you find peace in the coming days.

I will miss you, Frank, and all the talks about Custer, music and the Detroit Tigers. You are the only one who I could ever talk with, in depth, about all three of those subjects. My Senior Softball team is still looking for a slugging first-sacker. Thanks, Frank.
