MITCHELL, Frank Stanley Gordon - Of Grand Blanc, age 92, passed away Monday, January 16, 2006 at Brian's House of Davison. A memorial service will be held 3PM Friday, February 10, 2006 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 711 South Saginaw Street, Flint, Michigan 48502, Father Martin Fields officiating. Per Frank's wishes cremation has taken place. Contributions may be made to Kettering University, 1700 West Third Avenue Flint, Michigan 48504. Visitation 2PM Friday, February 10, 2006 until the time of service at church. Frank was born in Aston, near Birmingham, England, the son of Arthur Mitchell and Ada Emily Tambs. He came to Flint, Michigan from Birmingham, England, with his parents on March 10, 1925. He graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1931 and in 1937 from General Motors Institute, now Kettering University. He was employed at Chevrolet Manufacturing for a short period and then AC Spark Plug, as a Tool & Die Designer, until his retirement in 1972. He lived most of his life in Flint, Michigan moving to Abbey Park, in Grand Blanc in 2001. He was a lifetime supporter of Kettering University as well as many other organizations. He married Joan May Blake on January 12, 1955 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Flint. They traveled to many locations in America and spent the winter in Tucson, Arizona for many years. They also made several trips to England. Joan preceded him in death on August 29, 1992, in Flint. He married Doris Jean(Ault) Balbanian on October 2, 1993, also at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Doris preceded him in death on March 20, 2001. Frank was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother Arthur Henry Mitchell and a sister Winifred Lily (Charles) Crowe, both of England, and two sisters, Beatrice May (William) Ashford and Olive Edna (George) Spicer, both of Flint. Surviving are a brother-in-law, Peter (Jackie) Blake of Jackson, Michigan; seven nephews, Roger (Jennifer) Blake of Berkley, Michigan and Paul (Dana) Blake of Jackson, Michigan, Jeffery (Mae) Ashford of Grand Blanc, Duane (Lois) Spicer of Flint, Bruce (Helga) Mitchell of Sydney, Australia, Clive (Val) Mitchell of Cheltenham, England, and Charles (Doris) Crowe of Birmingham, England. Also two cousins, Frank Alonzo Tambs of Flushing, Michigan, and Lillian Tambs Baumgardner of Wilmington, Delaware. Also many grandnephews, grandnieces and cousins.
