Frank was the reason I went to Sarah Lawrence College. He had learned about it during his tenure in Yonkers, connected me with people in the area, which lead to that most important visit to the school that was perfect for me. I will always be grateful to him.

Frank Newman was one of my father J.R. Brown's best friends and gardening buddy. He spent endless hours in the summers of the 1960s and 70s sweating over the tomato vines and he made gallons of sauce from the product of the field on the C.W.Efroymson property. Now all of the hobby gardeners are in heaven together, probably shaking their heads over the way things are going and growing on earth.
