Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home Obituary

Frank (Frankie) Gomez Ortega

Marathon, Tx

The man. The myth. The Dallas Cowboys die-hard fan legend.

Men wanted to be him and women wanted to be with him.

Frank Gomez Ortega, 61, passed away on November 14, 2024.

Weary of reading obituaries noting someone's courageous battle with death, Frank would have wanted it known that he most likely died as a result of being stubborn, in some way or another. He enjoyed hunting, Wild Turkey Whiskey, guns, and his kids and grand-babies until the day he died...not necessarily in that order. He hated flowers and pickles! He attracted more women than a shoe sale at Macy's, and he was also great at pissing people off, smoking brisket, field dressing a deer in less than 10 minutes, never telling his grandkids no and sending them back home all hyped up on sugar, but most importantly helping out anyone in need: and hitting Coke bottles thirty yards out with his .22. When it came to being a Jailer at Midland county Frank was one of the best in the business. And he loved doing it.

The funeral service for Frank will be held at 2 pm on Friday, November 22, 2024, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church 4601 Neely Ave Midland, TX 79705, reception to follow after. A viewing will be held at 12pm while the Rosary will start later in the day at 7 pm on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home & Chapel 2508 N. Big Spring St Midland, TX 79705

Not sure what to say?

My deepest condolences to the Ortega family. Franky was a great guy. Although I haven't seen or talked to him in years, I remember him from my days of working at Probation and seeing and talking to him at the jail. He was always cracking jokes. That is how I will always remember him. Rest easy, my friend.

RIP brother. We had some good times. Lots of memories. What a great guy.

Cousin ,R.I.P -

always liked Frank (manitas) . easy going and hell of a jailer that i got to work along side with. Always had a smile on his face.

Toni and girls I just found out about Frank so very sorry to hear about his passing. May he rest in peace and perpetual light everlastingly shine on him and may God give y'all strength and resilience to carry forth

I worked with Toni on 1w at MMH. Frank was always calling or dropping by. He was so sweet to Toni. When they found out they were going to be parents, he was over the moon. He was also a patient of ours and the obit nailed it stubborn. But hilarious. Toni, I am so sorry for your loss. Sending all my love and prayers.

As we would always say, Frank was my brother from another mother. He was one of my best friends in high school in Marathon. We had more good times than I can remember. With me living 5 hours away we didn’t see each other much but we talked on the phone all the time. I’m gonna miss my brother. Love you bud.
