Paul was my first editor, at the Frontiersman in Alaska. He was tough, but fair, and one of my first influences in the world of journalism. He taught me so very much and I think of him often.

Paul was an incredible human being. His ability to reason and see dimensions in other people was remarkable. In short he changed my life with his stories and wit. I have his faded John Deere ball cap and I wear it often. Paul never denied or down played his imperfections or failures. Neither did he list them.
