Frank "Barney" Stenlake, Jr., 97, of East Bangor, PA, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Walden III, Senior Living Community in Wind Gap.
Frank was born in East Bangor, PA on July 13, 1927, a son of the late Frank Stenlake, Sr. and Mary (Miller) Stenlake.

He was the widower of Marlene S. (Beers) Stenlake, who passed away in 1996.

Barney was a 1945 graduate of Bangor High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Marines Corp. in WW II. Barney was employed as a millwright with Carpenters Union Local 600, Bethlehem, PA, for over 50 years, until retiring in 1989. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, hunting, and fishing.

Barney was a member of East Bangor United Methodist Church in East Bangor, PA. He was also a life member and past Commander of the former E.H. Evans American Legion Post 378 in Bangor, a past President of the Yellow Jackets Drum Corp., a past Chairman of the East Bangor Municipal Authority, a member of the East Bangor Cemetery Board, and a member of the Bangor Elks Lodge 1106.

Barney is survived by a daughter, Lisa Kiefer, wife of Robert, two sons, Brian Stenlake, husband of Rosemary, and Glenn Stenlake, husband of Lynn, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters Dorothy Holland, and Mary Jewell, and two brothers Paul and Earl Stenlake.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 12th at Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Lillian Lane, "Village of Johnsonville", Bangor, PA. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday, November 12th at the funeral home. The burial will be held at East Bangor Cemetery, East Bangor, PA. Glen, Brian and families, So sorry to hear of your dads passing. He was a very well liked man. I remember him from growing up in East Bangor and going to school and graduating with Brian and also being friends later in life with Glen and Lynn. Our deepest sympathy and prayers goes out to the entire family! God Bless you all! He will be missed and remembered by many!

A marine from the greatest generation has passed away today. Frank, you are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow war veteran. We all are grateful for your stepping up to the plate when your country needed you the most. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final bugle has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Farewell fellow veteran.
