Frank J. Zillitto was born to Sebastian Joseph Zillitto and Josephine Zillitto in 1942, and was raised in Brooklyn until 1956 when his family moved to Oradell, NJ. Frank was a talented athlete. His first love was wrestling, but he also ran track and played football for River Dell Regional High School, graduating in 1960. He enjoyed the hot rod culture of the ‘50s & ‘60s, proudly maintaining two ’57 Chevys. He would race the quarter mile with his convertible Bel Air at Raceway Park, and once took First Place at the New York Coliseum Custom Auto Show. Like his father, he was a talented musician. Frank sang vocals and played guitar in The Coachmen V, and was very inspired by the guitar playing of Jimi Hendrix. In 1964, he broke ground on Hackensack Auto Spring & Wheel Alignment in Hackensack, NJ, and continued to work side-by-side with his father and grow the family business. In 1968, he began dating his future wife Ann. They married in 1971 and had 5 children together. While raising his family, he stayed active in the community and coached for soccer, softball, baseball and the River Dell Junior Wrestling program. Frank enjoyed spending summer vacation on the NJ shore with his family for 30+ years. He was a lifelong exotic fish hobbyist & breeder, competing in national & regional guppy competitions, and lending his knowledge & support to the South Jersey Guppy Group, North Jersey Aquarium Society, and New Jersey Aquatic Gardeners Club. Frank was a faithful Catholic who regularly attended Sunday mass at St. Joseph Church in Oradell, NJ, and would often remark how “God has been good to me”. Above all, his greatest source of pride was his family, who he would do anything for and who will miss him dearly. Frank is survived by his wife Ann of 46 years, his five children and their spouses (Scott, Jamie, Kristi & her husband Michael, Bryan & his wife Mary, Danielle & her husband John), and his five grandchildren who affectionately called him “Poppy” (Mikayla, Marissa, Gianna, Sebastian & Catherine). Frank was predeceased by his brother-in-law John Sr, is survived by his sister Virginia and fiance Bob, Virginia’s three children (John Jr & wife Robin, Lisa & Graig), and grandnephews John Jr & Lukas. Donations in Frank’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
