Frank was my cousin. I was raised in Peotone, Illinois and had many birthday parties with the cousins. Frank's Grandmother, my Great Grandparents, Frank and Minnie Deperman raised Frank and his sister, Margaret Ann. Had many great celebrations with him.

I met Frank in the early 1960s, when he was stationed at Fort Bragg, and before he was deployed to Germany. We kept in touch all these years, occasionally meeting when I visited my family in Southern Pines/Pinehurst. He was a wonderful man who was much loved; he touched everyone he met. He left this earth too early and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers will always be with you.

To the Depperman Family: I was so surprised to see this in the newspaper as I immediately recognized the name. I did not know Franklin personally, however, I knew the family as I also grew up in Peotone! My younger sister was in the same grade as Joy and I remember his mother Pearl very well as she and my mother were friends. I married an SF soldier in 1973 and we are now retired here in Hope Mills.
