Franklin Thomas Sprouse, 91, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Sprouse was born on May 8, 1920, in Verona, a son of the late Frank and Mary (Thompson) Sprouse.
Frank worked in production for Westinghouse. He enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, keeping a garden and spending time with his family. On February 2, 1947, he married Betty Pittman Sprouse, who preceded him in death on March 22, 2009. Mr. Sprouse is survived by three daughters, Jeannie Marie Goulet and fiance, James Short, of Waynesboro, Patricia Ann Stiltner of Stuarts Draft, Mary Jane Furr and David Hutchinson of Waynesboro; a sister, Catherine Crum of Rockville, Maryland; four grandchildren, Sonya Terrell, Eric Gilbert, Keith Gilbert and Michael Goulet; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Noah, and Jonah Terrell.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Sprouse was preceded in death by three brothers. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds-Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastors Earl Monroe and Brent Perrett officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at the funeral home.
Friends may also visit the family from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2011, at the residence of his daughter Jeannie, 26 Whippoorwill Cove, Waynesboro.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Benavitch, Allen Benavitch, David Benavitch, Robert Johnson, Byron Terrell, and James Short.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Hall, Lynwood Burnette, Richard Taylor, David Hutchinson, Kenneth Beverly and friends attending the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 260, Stuarts Draft, VA 24477.
