Franklin Lynell Strickland Jr.

Mr. Franklin Lynell Strickland Jr., 66 of Blackshear, passed away late Monday evening (March 30, 2009) at his residence following a lengthy illness.

A native of Ware County, Mr. Strickland had lived most of his life in Ware & Brantley County and was a current resident of the Lewis Landing Community in Brantley County. He loved to fish, hunt, and especially spend time with his family. He was a self employed carpenter & contractor. Mr. Strickland will be remembered as a hard worker and someone who enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather & friend. He was a son of the late Franklin Lynell Sr. & Evelyn Rose Sellers Strickland and was also preceded in death by his daughter Debra Ann Strickland.

He is survived by his wife Marlene Manning Strickland of Blackshear, two daughters and sons-in-laws, Linette & Harold Mater of Hoboken and Mandy & Carlyle Clever of Ware County; a son, Danny Strickland of Brantley County; three step daughters & two , sons-in-law, Jennifer & Brian Altman of Blackshear, Debbie Manning (friend Larry Crane) of Brantley County, Donna & David Adams of Ashburn, Va.; a stepson & daughter-in-law Tommy & Susan Manning of Blackshear,;a sister and brother-in-law, Evangeline & Jimmy Deen of Elkmont, Ala.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Buddy & Connie Strickland of Pearson, Silas & Diane Strickland of Clute Tx., Sheldon & Eleanor Strickland of Eastman, nine grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one step great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Strickland will be held Thursday afternoon (April 2, 2009) at 2:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o’clock Wednesday evening (April 1, 2009) at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery.
