Not sure what to say?

My deepest condolences to the Brotzen family and the entire Rice community on the loss of Dr. Brotzen. He was one of my favorite professors in the Materials department. He would always bring more to a lecture than just the dry facts typical of research. His real world (wide) experiences added so much to his classes. His insights into material behavior have stayed with me throughout my 28 year engineering career. An internationally respected scientist, a well loved master of two women’s...

Dear Frances, we intended to attend the celebration of Franz' life but had the time down as 3PM today!! Just checked for the place and found we had missed it.

Both of you have been such strong supporters of peace. I will put an article about Franz' death in the July Houston Peace News. He will be missed.
He has been an inspiration for good to so many people.

Our sympathy goes out to you and your family.

Although I only took one course from Dr. Brotzen in 1957, I will always remember his great teaching ability and love for his students. In recent years, I was fortunate to re-establish my contact with him and found that he was as gracious and caring as ever. Rice won't be the same without him.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Dr. Brotzen was my advisor at Jones College when I was at Rice and also the father of one of my dearest friends from childhood and high school- his son Franz. He was clearly involved in his work and so loved the world but always had time to engage you in a really personal way. I was lucky to have...

What a great loss..you have my deepest sympathy. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
